Instructions for Awesome Graphics for PowerPoint
We hope you make many a great presentation from these new powerpoint graphics.
The graphics have been designed to make life easier for you to make great looking
presentations. For example each graphic has been optimized for on-screen presentations.
You may wish to print out these instructions...
To add an Awesome Graphic to your powerpoint presentation
- To add a graphic...
- Start powerpoint
- Open your presentation "File > Open > etc"
- Make sure you are on the normal slide editing view "View > Normal/Slide"
- Choose the "Insert" menu
- Click on "Picture"
- Choose "From File..."
- Navigate to where the powerpoint graphic is located
eg. D:\Business\Finance\ if you purchased the CD-ROM
eg. C:\Downloads\ if you downloaded a graphic
- Click on the filename of the graphic you want to load with the left mouse button
eg. coins-usa00280.jpg
- Then click on "Insert"
You have successfully added a graphic to your presentation. Read on for how to change the size, position etc of the picture.

To change the size of the graphics in powerpoint
If you want to change the size of an existing graphic on your powerpoint slide:
- Click on the graphic
- Powerpoint will show 8 small white handles when the graphic is selected
- If you want to size the graphic but keep it in proportion
- Click and drag any of the corner handles
- If you want to distort or squash the graphic
- Click and drag any of the side or top and bottom handles
- If you want to make the graphic fill the entire slide
- Press and hold the CTRL key, then click and drag any of the corner handles

To rotate an awesome picture in powerpoint
Rotation of a picture image is only possible with powerpoint 2002 / XP or higher
- Click on the picture
- Powerpoint will show 8 small white handles when the picture is selected
- Click and drag the small green round handle that is above the picture
- If you want to rotate the picture in 15 degree increments, hold down the Shift key
- If you want to rotate the picture from the bottom edge, hold down the CTRL key

To darken or lighten the graphic image
If you would like the graphic image slightly darker or lighter, then powerpoint has an in-built feature called the "picture toolbar". It enables you to darken or lighten the image as well as to increase or reduce the contrast in an image. To use the picture toolbar follow these instructions...
- Right click on the graphic
- Powerpoint will show 8 small white handles when the graphic is selected
- From the menu that pops up, choose "show picture toolbar", if the option "hide picture toolbar" appears, then the toolbar is already displayed somewhere on your screen
- On the picture toolbar, there are various tools to manipulate the image
- Each click of the "less brightness" button (6=the one with the down arrow and the sun icon) will darken the image. So click the button more than once to continue to darken the image
- If you need to, click the "reset" button (14) to reset the image (size, brightness, crop will all be removed)
- That's It!

To crop a graphic image in powerpoint
If you would like remove an unwanted area from the graphic image that is around the edges, you can 'crop' the image using the picture toolbar again.
- Right click on the graphic
- Powerpoint will show 8 small white handles when the graphic is selected
- From the menu that pops up, choose "show picture toolbar", if the option "hide picture toolbar" appears, then the toolbar is already displayed somewhere on your screen
- On the picture toolbar, there are various tools to manipulate the image
- Click the "crop" button (7=the icon that looks like barbed wire).
- Then simply click and drag a corner handle to crop from a corner
- Or click and drag a side handle to crop from the sides
- If you need to, click the "reset" button (14) to reset the image (size, brightness, crop will all be removed)
- That's It!

To add a border to a powerpoint graphic
If you would like to add a nice to a graphic image do the following:
- Click on the graphic
- Powerpoint will show 8 small white handles when the graphic is selected
- From the menu that pops up, choose "show picture toolbar", if the option "hide picture toolbar" appears, then the toolbar is already displayed somewhere on your screen
- On the picture toolbar, there are various tools to manipulate the image
- Click the "line style" button (9=the icons with lines of different thickness)
- Choose a line thickness. 4.5pt is a good setting for most pictures
- You can set the border color by clicking the "line color" icon, which is located on the lower area of powerpoint's main screen.
- Choose "more line colors" to see a whole range of colors.

To view the catalog showing all the thumbnail images of the graphics for powerpoint
If you would like to see thumbnails (small pictures) of each powerpoint graphic contained on the CD, then do the following:
(note: requires internet explorer or a similar internet browser):
- Using "Windows Explorer" navigate to your CD-ROM drive.
- Double click the file called "index.htm" or "index"
- Your web browser will load and display the thumbnails.
